HEDP to replace Whiteboards with Electronic Boards in Higher Classes

Higher Education Department Punjab (HEDP) is keen to install Electronic Boards in higher classes, while there are numerous institutes where the students even don’t have the basic facilities.

During a recent meeting in the presence of the provincial minister for education Rana Mashood and Additional Secretary Higher Education Punjab Shahid Zaman, it was decided that the students must be given advance knowledge through the latest technology. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the British Council Lahore and Higher Education Department Punjab. Director British Council Richard Meir has signed the MoU with great hope that it will be a step towards the improved education.

It is pertinent to mention here that the teaching faculty of the higher classes is not very much skilled to run the latest gadgets. While talking to the “Education Times” Shahid Zaman explained that the concerned authorities were aware about the situation, but initially they were working on it and the interested private companies should be invited to share for the betterment of the education sector. He said the Electronic Boards were already installed in “Danish Schools” and the overall response was extremely good. The practice should not be made on high scale because we are going to take it through narrow to broad.

On a question about teacher training and the concern of the students he said that of-course we are designing a complete project, which will be started with faculty training and little amendment of the course which must be installed in the electronic board.

“We are not in a hurry to just install the Electronic Board but we are eager to replace the obsolete ways of teaching through introducing latest technology for the upcoming generation”.

While answering about the shortage of electricity, he said they are going to run it with solar system which will be very much suitable for smooth operation of the project. It is dire need of the era that we should launch latest technology among the upcoming generation which will lead to produce and enhance the skills for the next many decades he concluded.
