The government has decided to announce a public holiday on 9th November, Iqbal Day, across the country.


According to media reports, a senior official of interior ministry said the government has decided to announce a public holiday on November 9 on the eve of Iqbal day all over the country. All government and private educational institutions will remain closed on this occasion and government employees will enjoy two holidays this week.

Iqbal Day (Urdu: یوم اقبال‎; Yōm-e Iqbāl) is the birthday of Muhammad Iqbal on 9 November. The day is a public holiday in Pakistan.Iqbal, a poet and philosopher, was a great inspiration for the Pakistan Movement.

Iqbal day is organized and celebrated on 9 November around the whole world to tribute to Iqbal, the "Poet of the East" every year. Iqbal was born on 9 November 1877 in Sialkot, within the Punjab Province of British India (now in Pakistan). He died on 21 April 1938 in Lahore, Punjab, British India. The Pakistan government officially declared him the national poet.

اسلام آباد (3 نومبر۔2015ء)سرکاری ملازمین کیلئے خوشخبری ،حکومت نے 9 نومبر کو یوم اقبال کے موقع پر ملک بھر میں عام تعطیل کا فیصلہ کیا ہے،میڈیا رپورٹس کے مطابق وزارت داخلہ کے سینئر افسر نے بتایا کہ حکومت نے 9 نومبر (پیر) کے روز اقبال ڈے کے موقع پر ملک بھر میں عام تعطیل کا فیصلہ کیا ہے اس موقع پر تمام سرکاری اور تعلیمی ادارے بند رہیں گے ،سرکاری ملازمین رواں ہفتے دو چھٹیوں کے مزلے لیں گے
