Govt Emerson College’s elevation sought
GEC MULTAN: The executive committee of Emersonians has announced to work for the elevation of the Government Emerson College (GEC) as university.
Flanked by former director colleges Dr Hameed Raza Siddique, former MPA Mauvli Sultan Alam, GEC Principal Malik Abdul Jabbar, Emersionains General Secretary Fayyaz Tehsin told a news conference on Saturday that the GEC had a glorious history. He said it was already offering masters in 16 disciplines.
"The GEC has produced hundreds of doctors, engineers, judges, lawyers, politicians, teachers, officers, players, artists, journalists. It needs to be elevated as university," Tehsin said.
He said that the association (www.theemersonians.com) formed in December last was going to hold its elections on Nov 24.
Speaking his mind, GEC Principal Malik Abdul Jabbar said that the college had 67 acres of land which was enough for its elevation.
Established in 1920, the GEC has a prominent place in the public and private sector campuses of the area.
